Traxtion- a locomotive company that provides comprehensive rail services and solutions- were looking for a new home, they were drawn to the rich heritage of the building and its majestic views of the Johannesburg tree tops.
During the design process HesseKleinloog wanted to remain respectful to the heritage of the protected Rosebank Fire Station, while bringing modern sophistication to the space.
The design team payed homage to the history of the building by exposing the ceiling, as well as using honest materials such as timber, marble and copper to bring warmth to the space.
As you step into the office you are greeted by a curved slatted timber wall. The curvature of this wall was inspired by the Traxtion branding created by Xfacta- which mimics the nose of a locomotive. By using black aluminium frames with glass panes as partitioning no matter where you are in the office the client is able to take full advantage of the view.
Overall HesseKleinloog was able to create an honest, unembellished space that captures the essence of the clients industry, resulting in a simple yet sophisticated space.
