Charles Greig Collective

Charles Greig Collective entrusted HesseKleinloog with the execution of their Sandton concept store.

When fifth generation luxury jewellery label Charles Greig were given the opportunity to acquire retail space adjoining their existing showroom in Nelson Mandela Square, they opted to use it as a stage to showcase an exclusive collection of high-end lifestyle goods of African origin, including fine jewellery and watches, skincare, artwork and objets.

Defining a premium standard

By placing painstaking emphasis on refined detailing, the design scheme was developed to match the premium standard of the merchandise itself. Framed by an archway overlooking neighbouring boutiques, the space makes use of a dramatic palette of hunter green and gold, intimate lighting, and a blend of classical features and contemporary finishes.

A golden leaf

By far the most striking aspect of the interior is the elaborate, luminous wall graphic that takes centre stage behind the sales bureau. Hand-grafted by installation artist Damien Grivas over the course of four weeks, the illustration was adapted from a historical engraving of jungle vegetation, manually traced onto the wall using a red foundation, followed by the meticulous application of gold leaf.
